Magpies to steal Cole?

According to today's Sunday Mirror, Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is planning to use £10m from the sale of striker Andy Caroll to fund a deal to bring in Carlton Cole from West Ham United.

It was Pardew who brought Cole to Upton Park from Chelsea in the summer of 2006 and the striker himself has been linked with a move away from East London for some time with Liverpool having shown interest when Roy Hodgson was in charge at Anfield.

Avram Grant, however, was keen to keep Cole at least until the summer to bulster his attacking options, but with the addition of Demba Ba on a permanent deal and Robbie Keane's deal depending on the Hammers' Premier League survival, who knows what will happen in the summer.
