According to reports in today's Daily Mail, Avram Grant looks set to show Carlton Cole the way out of West Ham United.

Cole had looked set to join Liverpool on deadline day of the summer transfer window, but a deal fell through after the Anfield club tried to offload Ryan Babel to the Hammers, Babel did not want to go to Upton Park after Tottenham had also shown interest. On top of all that, the Hammers could not find a replacement.

Tottenham and Sunderland were also interested in the summer and it looks as if those same three clubs might be in a battle for his signature again, with Arsenal also interested, after Arsene Wenger also claiming admiration for the striker.

Cole had been a regular starter for the Hammers until the end of September when he found himself on the bench for the club's only league victory to date against Tottenham and he remained on the bench for their next two games against Fulham and Wolves, having been replaced by Frederic Piquionne.

Cole did start the following game, however, as part of a front three with Piquionne and Victor Obinna in the home clash against Newcastle United, it was here where Cole scored his first goal of the season to put the Hammers ahead. However, they did go on to lose the game 2-1.

Cole then found himself back on the bench for Saturdays 1-0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, again fuelling speculation about his future.
