Although the transfer window officially closed on Tuesday, the club's official website have now confirmed that West Ham United have completed the signing of Lars Jacobsen on a free transfer from Blackburn Rovers.

The Danish international has signed a one-year contract at Upton Park and becomes Avram Grant's eighth summer signing.

It was a fairly uneventful deadline day for the East-London outfit, as there was continual speculation about two of their key players leaving the club, but no deal for either of them materialised. Instead, two more players arrived in the shape of Jacobsen and goalkeeper Ruud Boffin. Grant had been keen to sign a back-up for first-choice Robert Green, although he already has Marek Stech and Peter Kurucz at his disposal.
