Hodgson hopes for late Cole delivery

Reports in The News of the World claim that Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson could make a late bid for West Ham United Carlton Cole before the transfer windows closes on Tuesday.

Hodgson is prepared to offer two players to the Hammers in a player-plus-cash deal, which could involve Ryan Babel and Lucas.

Although West Ham have said Cole is not for sale, the report states they would accept a fee of around £10 million.

Cole has been linked with a number of other clubs throughout the summer, including Tottenham, Birmingham City and Stoke City.
