A solitary goal from new signing Thomas Hitzlsperger gave West Ham United the second win on their pre-season tour of Austria against last season's Greek champions Panathinaikos on Friday night.

Scott Parker was back in the fold and named captain for the evening as the Hammers won a hard-fought contest in difficult conditions, as they had done six days earlier.

West Ham had to fight all the way against an experienced and talented Panathinaikos side so, yet another clean sheet, in the absence of the four World Cup players is very encouraging.

The Hammers sealed the victory with a thumping free-kick from the player aptly nicknamed "der Hammer" three minutes before half-time. The Greeks spent the second half pressing for an equaliser but in the end to no avail, as the Grant's side now head to MK Dons on Wednesday night on a positive note.
