Liverpool have now entered the race for West Ham striker Carlton Cole according to Metro.co.uk.

The Hammers' hitman had been linked with another move to Stoke City in the morning papers, but Cole seems to want to stay in East London.

However, Hammers' boss Avram Grant has been told by owners David Sullivan and David Gold that he must sell as well as buy.

Cole is seen as one of Upton Park's most saleable assets and Reds' boss Roy Hodgson is ready to launch a £12m bid.
