Stoke City are looking at tieing up a double swoop for West Ham pair Carlton Cole and Mark Noble with striker Dave Kitson going the other way.

Cole has been strongly linked with a move to the Britannia Stadium all summer and the latest reports have suggested that he could complete a £12million move to the Potters as early as Monday, however, there has been no official word from either club.

Stoke have also enquired about the availability of Mark Noble, and are reportedly preparing a £5m swoop. Noble has been one of the Hammers' most consistent performers over recent seasons and is viewed as a firm fans' favourite, however his poor form last season may see the midfielder move to pastures new.

Dave Kitson's role in the proposed transfer would see him move to East London for an initial £6million, with another £3million coming in additions depending on varying factors of the player's success.

If the Cole transfer does get completed - with reports close to Stoke saying that the deal is at an advanced stage - it will smash the Staffordshire club's transfer record of £5million that they paid for Turkish international Tuncay from Middlesbrough last summer.

There are implications for West Ham who are now in desperate need for a new striker with the departures of Ilan, Mido and Guillermo Franco. A proposed deal for Carlton Cole would only add to the club's problems in this area, however the addition of Kitson would provide firepower and at least it would stop him scoring against the Hammers.
