Avram Grant, who is expected to be appointed in the next few days, is hoping to bring World Cup bound Nadir Belhadj from his old club Portsmouth for around £3million, according to today's Daily Mirror.

Grant is said to admire the speedy left-sided player who can play either on the wing or at full-back.

Belhadj will look to leave relegated Portsmouth this summer although he is hoping that a decent World Cup, where his Algeria team will face England, will put him in the shop window for other clubs to become interested.

Belhadj is believed to have other Premier League clubs interested in his services, but Grant believes he holds the trump card, after working with the player last season.

The Israeli's imminent appointment at Upton Park may see other Portsmouth players join him in East London. Jamie O'Hara, whose impressive performances won him the player of the year award last year, may move on as his chances at Tottenham next season appear limited and Grant is also looking at acquiring Kevin-Prince Boateng for around £3million and fellow Israeli Tal Ben Haim, on a free transfer.
