Hammers confirm interest in Taylor

This week's Sunday People reports that West Ham United are to launch a summer bid for Newcastle's Steven Taylor.

Taylor is keen to stay at St James' Park, but would consider a move if the club don't offer him a new contract with the terms he believes he deserves.

Any move for the defender will be determined by West Ham's survival in the Premier League.

A big factor in the move will be whether Manager Gianfranco Zola and assistant boss Steve Clarke remain at the club, as Clarke knows Taylor from their days together at Newcastle. However, the club may still make a bid, regardless of the managerial situation.
