Hammers braced for City Behrami offer

West Ham have turned down a cash-plus-player swap offer from Manchester City for midfielder Valon Behrami, the Sunday Mirror has revealed.

City are prepared to offer £5million and Zimbabwean striker Benjani for the versatile Swiss international.

In recent months he has been linked with a number of clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Roma.

But despite West Ham’s severe financial problems the club is not prepared to accept derisory offers for a player who remains a key member of Gianfranco Zola’s squad.

Zola himself insists that Behrami is a indispensible asset and is not for sale at any price.

City, howeverm are unlikely to take no for an answer and the Hammers will be bracing themselves for an increased offer, from Manchester, this week.
