West Ham United Manager Gianfranco Zola is interested in bringing Stoke City striker James Beattie to Upton Park in January.

The 31 year old former Southampton hitman is keen to leave the Britannia Stadium after a recent heated exchange with Potters' Manager Tony Pulis.

With West Ham's current lack of Striking options due to both Carlton Cole and Zavon Hines set for lengthly spells on the sidelines, Guillermo Franco is the only fit striking option available and Zola believes that Beattie could be the man to fill the void.
