Benjani ideal replacement for Cole?

 West Ham United could be set for a January move involving striker Benjani Mwaruwari as a possible replacement for the injured Carlton Cole.

 Cole, 25, is the subject of continued speculation regarding a move away from Upton Park, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all rumoured to be interested. West Ham had been persuing Bologna striker Pablo Osvaldo, but Sporting Director Gianluca Nani but has denied that any move will be made, saying:

 "Daniel is not one of the players we are following. He is a great striker and we followed him before he went to Bologna but since last year, we have not followed him and even now we are not interested in him”

If any move for Benjani is to be made, Manchester City are believed to want around £1.5m for the former Portsmouth man. Hammers' boss Gianfranco Zola believes that the Zimbabwean could be a threat in front of goal as Cole continues on the road to recovery.
