Sky Sports News have confirmed that West Ham United and Fiorentina have reached an agreement on a swap deal which sees 23 year old Portuguese defender Manuel Da Costa arriving at Upton Park, with forward Savio Nsereko going the other way following a disappointing spell in East London after a £9 million move from Brescia in January.

Chief executive Scott Duxbury told that it represented a good deal for both parties, as the two players were both looking for fresh starts and the fee received would help to alleviate the financial situation at Upton Park., while the ‘highly rated’ Da Costa would add something to the Hammers first team. His career began at AS Nancy, before a move to PSV Eindhoven in 2006- he made 16 appearances and scored one goal in three years at Philips Stadion before spending a season with Fiorentina, also being loaned to their Serie A rivals Sampdoria, and has represented his country at under 21 level.
