West Ham United have failed in their attempts to sign Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh, according to the Daily Mirror.

Chamakh is quoted as saying, "West Ham are the latest to come in. It's only in the past week that they have shown an interest. But I am seeing what happened with Arsenal all over again - the problem is Bordeaux. So it is very tricky."

Meanwhile, the funds to sign a centre forward are less forthcoming as it has been reported in today's Sun newspaper that Stoke City have missed out on signing Hammers defender James Collins, after he rejected personal terms.
