The Daily Mail reports today that West Ham could be forced to sell Welsh defender James Collins to Stoke City for a fee of around £5million.

Collins had been linked with the Potters earlier in the summer, but this re-emerging story hints that the Hammers have found themselves back in financial difficulties.

City who have also been linked with striker Dean Ashton, now appear more interested in the Welsh international defender who appears to be first-choice in manager Gianfranco Zola's starting eleven.
