The Daily Mail’s sports pages today report that West Ham are lining up a move for Napoli defender Leandro Rinaudo. It is rumoured that boss Gianfranco Zola wants to arrange a season long loan deal for the player as cover for Matthew Upson and James Collins in case of injuries over the course of the new Premier League season.

The club had the opportunity to watch him at close quarters in Saturday’s Bobby Moore Cup match which the Hammers lost 1-0, Fabio Quagliarella finding the net for Napoli in the curtain raiser to the league opener at Wolves on Saturday. Rinaudo began his career with Palermo, making 32 appearances and scoring two goals before a move to Naples in 2008 where to date he has made 17 appearances and is yet to score.
