16 year old Roma midfielder Simone Bezziccheri is spending a trial period with West Ham.

He played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as a Hammers youth team drew 1-1 at Cambridge United on Saturday, Ahmed Abdulla scoring for the visitors at the Abbey Stadium in a performance which pleased academy director Tony Carr.

He told www.whufc.com that overall it had been a good workout for his side.

Meanwhile, West Ham are also poised to swoop for Chelsea youngster Frank Nouble, according to www.skysports.com.

The 17 year old has been tipped as a bright prospect for the future and the Blues were keen to tie him to a professional deal at Stamford Bridge.

It is believed he turned his down due to fears that his route to the first team would be delayed- Arsenal also showed interest but it is rumoured that the Hammers have been able to talk him into a switch to Upton Park.
