Home games down the tube?

West Ham could face a backlog of home games later in the season. The Newham Recorder reports that it could be October before Hammers' fans get to see their heros on home turf.


London Underground are planning to close Upton Park station as part of their engineering schedule and this coincides with West Ham's meeting with London rivals Spurs on 22 Aug.


Rearrangement is difficult, as the fixture is sandwiched between European and Carling Cup midweek fixtures.


The game with Liverpool on 19 September could also be similarly affected. This nightmare scenario could result in the opening home fixture being against Fulham on 3 October.
