Well, the rumour mill just doesn’t want to die, does it?

The amount of activity at Upton Park may not be much in terms of money changing hands yet, but that hasn’t stopped the media linking West Ham with every Tom, Dick and Olivier.

Andy Johnson is a player constantly linked with a switch to Upton Park, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.5 million. The (sort of) England international is said to be allowed to leave Everton if he so wishes.

This one does beg the question of why he would want to leave. Everton are flying high; he has hardly been stuck on the bench this season, and he’s known for loyalty to his clubs after staying at Crystal Palace even when they got relegated.

Don’t hold your breath on this one - especially when he’s similar to Dean Ashton on skills and stature, though maybe with a bit more emphasis on pace.

Olivier Kapo, the one-time Juventus, and occasionally Birmingham, player, seems set to grace the shored of the Premier League once more, and the usual trio of clubs are linked with him: West Ham, because the media love to think this club has loads of money still; Blackburn, because they have said they're on the lookout; and Wigan Athletic...well, they'd take anyone, wouldn't they?

This is a rumour sparked by the fact his agent said 'he wants to quit Birmingham'. So therefore West Ham are in. Do you see what the media did there? (And I know, that means us here at FansOnline too, but hey, you're still reading this. Thanks for that by the way, it's appreciated.)

Richard Wright, the ‘keeper who has never really lit up the sticks of the Boleyn Ground (he’d probably be sacked and forced to buy new ones if he did though), is set to make it out of the club, into the promised land of the Championship.

After just one season at West Ham, the former Everton custodian is set to join Southampton, the club he was loaned to at the end of last season and helped save from relegation.

As part of the deal, Nathan Dyer could be making the trip the other way to the Hammers, who may be in the market for another wide man.

The Portsmouth target has still not settled his future on the coast, though recent fraternisation with the long arm of the law won’t have made him the greatest prospect in the world for Premier League managers.

Still, I guess Joey Barton is still gets paid to kick a football around AND get arrested, while the rest of us have to just fantasise about playing for a big club...so perhaps there's hope yet for Dyer.
