Rob Green and Matthew Upson played their part as England cruised to a 4-0 win against Kazakstan in the World Cup qualifier.

It wasn't plain sailing for England though and Green was called on to make a few saves, especially as England made a rather rocky start, with former Hammer Glen Johnson looking particularly shaky. Article continues below

England regained their composure though and took the lead through Gareth Barry then broke the Kazakstan resistance on the stroke of half time when Emile Heskey scored the second.

Second half goals from Wayne Rooney and Frank *spit* Lampard gave the scoreline a gloss finish to leave England on the brink of qualification for the 2010 competition barring a set of improbable results.

And Green and Upson are well placed to be on the plane there...
