Hammers fans 'third worst behaved'. Is that really a bad thing?

West Ham's fans are the 'third worst behaved' in the Premier League according to some table or other which has been released this week.

Apparently the match delegates at the Premier League grade fans according to how they respond to the opposition fans and players and match officials.. Article continues below

The great shame is that we were actually eleventh in 2007-08.

Here at Uptonsparks we think that the real shame is that we were as high as eleventh.

While league 'winners' Fulham are perhaps an aberation, given their good season, the fact that Stoke finished bottom gives us much more to take pleasure in.

Here's a club who made their home ground a thoroughly unpleasant place for the opposition and ref to be in. As a result their home form kept them up.

Being sporting has its place. But proving how 'fair-minded' you are as a crowd over a course of a whole season won't do you any favours in the long run.
