Steve Clarke is apparently on Celtic's wish list to replace Gordon Strachan as manager.

The Daily Mail even 'understands' - read 'guesses' - Clarke would be keen on the idea. Somehow we can't see it. Even though he was a 'Celtic fan as a youngster'.

Having wrenched himself away from a long-term relationship with Chelsea to join Gianfranco in the autumn, to now suddenly up sticks and move to one of the hotter of hotseats around just doesn't match Clarke's character. Article continues below

Celtic midfielder Barry Robson clearly hasn't got a clue who's coming in at Parkhead: 'Any manager, I’m sure, would love to come and manage this football club.

‘The new man will need to have a big personality and he’ll need to be strong, that’s for sure. It’s a huge club and I think it’s a big ask to be a manager of a club this size as well.

‘I can hear all the names getting bandied about and I don’t know who will be the manager.’

Former Hammers' boss Alan Curbishley is also 'being mentioned by sources in the south' - read 'these blokes haven't got a job, make something up about them' - but Clarke? We truly hope not.
