It was confirmed late on Friday night that New Zealand international defender Winston Reid has joined Major League Soccer outfit Sporting Kansas City on a loan deal.

Reid joined West Ham United back in the summer of 2010 when the club were under the stewardship of Avram Grant and has made 194 appearances during his time at the club.

He hasn't featured competitively for the Hammers since March 2018, due to a serious knee injury, though he did play in a number of the club's pre-season games.

In his pre-match news conference ahead of last weekend's postponed game at Manchester City, manager David Moyes hinted that Reid may leave for the USA but indicated that the original move to an unnamed club fell through and he will now spend time at Sporting Kansas City.
