There had been speculation once Manuel Pellegrini had left West Ham United on 28 December that goalkeeper Roberto Jiménez Gago would soon follow him out of the club.

With the arrival of Darren Randolph last week, manager David Moyes has allowed the Spaniard to join La Liga outfit Alavés on a loan deal for the remainder of the current campaign.

It had actually been Pellegrini's choice to bring the 33-year-old Spaniard to East London and he arrived as the Chilean's first summer signing to be used as backup to Lukasz Fabianski but with the injury problems that the Pole suffered back in September, he was soon pressed into service.

His costly errors were a major factor that has seen West Ham drop from third place to their current position of sixteenth and you have to say that those mistakes, together with the faith that Pellegrini showed in him contributed to the cause of the club's current predicament.

He was dropped after the 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on 23 November but after a hamstring problem suffered by third-choice goalkeeper David Martin in the victory at Southampton less than a month later, he was recalled to the starting line-up for the Boxing Day encounter at Crystal Palace.

Although he seemed to have learnt from his mistakes in that game, the Hammers were unfortunate to come out on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline despite going in front.

More news regarding transfers in and out of Stratford will be confirmed by this site as soon as it becomes available.
