Although the situation has not yet improved on the incoming front at West Ham United, despite speculation over the past week, the Hammers have let another Development Squad player leave the club today, as Joe Powell has joined Sky Bet League One side Burton Albion on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

After it was confirmed that Connor Coventry had left to join Michael Appleton's Lincoln City side on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign last Friday, Powell becomes the fourth player to make the move to the third tier following the departures of Josh Pask in the summer and most recently Nathan Holland and Aji Alese.

Alese and Holland have both signed loan deals at both Accrington Stanley and Oxford United respectively.

The now former Hammer had a first-team debut to remember last season as he provided the assists for fellow Academy graduate Grady Diangana to grab two goals on his senior debut in the Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Macclesfield Town.

After that impressive night in which the Irons thrashed their opponents from Sky Bet League Two 8-0, Powell spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Northampton Town.
