David Moyes starts his second spell in charge of West Ham United on New Year's Day, as AFC Bournemouth visit Stratford in the second of back-to-back home games for the Hammers.

After the hierarchy decided to bring an end to Manuel Pellegrini's reign after just 19 months following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, the Scotsman returns to East London hoping to give all connected with the club the perfect start to 2020, as they go in search of what will only be their third home win.

If they were to achieve the desired outcome, it would be their first here since 22 September.

The only difference between the two sides in the build-up to this match is the Cherries have had slightly more time to prepare after they were involved in Saturday's early kick off at Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, both teams will want to bounce back after their respective defeats and whoever comes out on top in this encounter will finish above their opponents.

The Hammers haven't beaten Eddie Howe's team since the opening game in Stratford back in August 2016 when Michail Antonio scored the only goal for the Irons, who were then under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic.

Lukasz Fabianski returned in goal on Saturday for the first time since suffering a hip injury against the Cherries back in September and he is set to make his second appearance since that day against the same opponents.

Aaron Cresswell and Angelo Ogbonna could regain their places in the starting line-up, meaning Arthur Masuaku and Issa Diop will again be options from the bench. Mark Noble will regain the captaincy after being on the bench against the Foxes, while  Antonio and Robert Snodgrass should also return.

A number of the New Year's Day fixtures are being televised by BT Sport with build-up from Stratford beginning at 5:15pm with kick-off at 5:30pm. The referee is Graham Scott.
