Perhaps the fact that West Ham United haven't won a league game in October since 2016 may explain their form over the last month. Still, November poses new challenges and they will hope to start with three points as they play the second of their home double-header against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers started last weekend in the bottom half of the table before the 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Sheffield United. However, the point took them back up to ninth, only for them to then slip a place the following day.

The results between the two sides last campaign were the reverse of what they had been in the previous season, as the Irons achieved the double over Rafael Benitez' team and Manuel Pellegrini will hope to keep up his perfect record against the Magpies by seeing his side get back to winning ways.

Steve Bruce replaced Benitez as Head-Coach in the summer after the Spaniard left for China and he has overseen two victories and three draws in ten games, meaning that his side are currently one place outside the relegation zone having only picked up nine points. The hosts will certainly be hoping that run continues for at least one more week.

Although both teams come into this game off the back of 1-1 draws, the East Londoners will be the fresher of the two sides, given that they have had one extra day to prepare, as Newcastle faced Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

After scoring only his third goal for the club against the Blades last time out, Robert Snodgrass will be hoping to retain his place, while Ryan Fredericks, Angelo Ogbonna and Pablo Fornals are all pushing to return, despite the impressive performances of Pablo Zabaleta, Fabián Balbuena and Aaron Cresswell against Chris Wilder's team.

Manuel Lanzini will hope to win his place back however, as he was one of those left out of last weekend's starting line-up.

Saturday's match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is Stuart Attwell.
