With the summer transfer window closing at 5pm today, West Ham United have already been busy as Manuel Pellegrini has added Swiss international striker Albian Ajeti to his ranks.

The 22-year-old joins from FC Basel on an initial four-year contract with the option to extend his stay in Stratford for a further two years.

Ajeti becomes a sixth capture of the summer for the Hammers, who were desperate to have competition for places as they look ahead to another Premier League campaign.

Pellegrini's latest recruit brings with him an impressive record, scoring 40 goals over the past three seasons and when he made a return to Basel from St Gallen in October 2017, he went on to score 29 goals in 58 appearances, thus adding to the 14 goals in 38 appearances before his return to the club.

Ajeti already has some competitive games under his belt this season and Irons' fans will be excited to hear that he is off the mark, even at this early stage, as he has one goal and two assists to his name.

The Swiss international could be set for his West Ham debut at home to Manchester City in Saturday's early kick off.

Whilst it is thought to be a quiet day in East London, there has been one outgoing, as highly rated defender Josh Cullen has rejoined Sky Bet Championship newcomers Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan, after helping the Addicks to promotion via the play-offs last campaign.
