A number of Hammer fans may have forgotten the former Wolves and Southampton striker Henri Camara has been playing for the team, but he has spoken out in the Sunday Mirror.

"This has been my worst season in England," striker Camara said in the red top paper, available in newsagents throughout the country. "It has been a disastrous year. I have few words to describe what I have been through - I have barely played.

"When I came back from the African Nations Cup, West Ham's manager congratulated me and I thought I would get to play for him. But despite giving my all in training I remained on the bench. I was so frustrated I went to see him and shouted in his face that I was sorry I'd ever joined West Ham and that I wanted to go back to Wigan. “

Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to do so, and he may or may not have gone to the local fairground and jumped around a bouncy castle to make himself feel better.

“Next time I change clubs I will be more careful, talk to the manager and take my time before signing,” he said, possible while doing a jimmy flip (which is one of those things when you bounce onto your behind and jump back onto your feet).

"I could not understand being left out. I was not injured - I was on top form. The manager has made me lose a lot. I was completely buried underground and other players who I'd meet would ask me whether I was still at West Ham.

"I always got the same questions, and in the end they made me feel ill. I couldn't wait for the season to end so I could go to Senegal. I have to return to Wigan, but I'm looking together with my agent to find another club where I can restore my playing health.

The striker has said French club Marseilles have approached him about moving to France, but he wants to stay in England for another two or three seasons.

He is a good striker, and to not get a game when the squad was at its bare bones must have been annoying. But surely such a lack of game time must mean there were other factors than ‘the team was playing well’?

Especially as it wasn’t.
