The January transfer window closed at 11pm on Thursday night and it would be fair to say that it was an unusually uneventful deadline day for West Ham United. Considering manager Manuel Pellegrini had confirmed the signings of both Samir Nasri and Mésaque Djú earlier in the month, it was actually only Reece Oxford who left East London for his second spell in the German Bundesliga. This time he has signed for FC Augsburg on loan until the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

The 20-year-old defender has been out on loan at a number of clubs in recent years including a spell at Sky Bet Championship side Reading, meaning he has only played eighteen times for the Hammers since making his debut in July 2015.

There were some deals involving potential players either arriving or leaving Stratford that didn't materialise yesterday, including a potential permanent switch which would have seen striker Lucas Pérez leave for Real Betis. The chances of that deal happening did look strong earlier in the day which then left manager Manuel Pellegrini looking at potential replacements. The Irons were considering a loan deal for Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi but they faced competition with Everton also interested.

Later in the day, it transpired that no more business would be concluded in East London after Oxford's move to Germany had been confirmed and it only came to light just over an hour before the window closed that Batshuayi had actually agreed terms on a loan deal with Crystal Palace.

So all transfer deals are over for now but who knows what the summer will bring for West Ham?
