The transfer window may have closed last week but West Ham United have made their third major signing under the stewardship of David Moyes, as free agent Patrice Evra joined on Wednesday afternoon.

The 36-year-old French defender signed a deal until the end of the current campaign.

He will have a few familiar faces to help him settle in to life in East London, as the Scotsman also has Evra's former teammates Javier Hernández and Angelo Ogbonna in his squad.

Moyes obviously felt he needed more options in the defensive positions, as Arthur Masuaku is still to serve another four matches of his suspension after spitting at Wigan Athletic striker Nick Powell during their fourth round FA Cup tie last month.

Evra could make his debut in West Ham's crucial home match with Watford on Saturday, while the contest could also see striker Jordan Hugill make his full debut for the Hammers after his deadline day move from Preston North End.
