West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola has offered his services to the Argentinian legend Diego Maradona as he takes his first steps on the international management scene.

It's uncertain whether Zola wants a formal part int he coaching set up, which is apparently to be run partly by committee.

"I wish him all the best because he's a person that deserves to have satisfactions and if he needs my help in any way, I'd be happy to do so," the West Ham United manager said in the Echo.

"I haven't spoken to him but I will try and do so as soon as possible.

"He's got such a big knowledge and I'm sure he will do a great job."

Zola was an understudy to the player at Napoli, and it's interesting to see that he wants to reverse the role of master and apprentice now Maradona is back on the scene.

Perhaps he can coax the old footballing powerhouse out of retirement for one final game for the Hammers?
