So far this summer, West Ham United have only acquired the services of former Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta but have seen two major players go through the exit door in East London. The latest deal sees striker Enner Valencia leave to join Mexican side Tigres for an undisclosed fee.

Speculation about this move was rife last week and today West Ham have finally confirmed that the Ecuadorian is heading back to the country from where the Hammers first signed him back in the summer of 2014.

After being told to add more cutting edge to the squad at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, the then Hammers' manager Sam Allardyce signed the player in order to deploy a more attacking style of football.

Valencia made 66 appearances during his time with the Irons but he only notched up ten goals in three seasons.

After becoming disillusioned with life when the club moved to Stratford, he joined Everton on the day that last year's summer transfer window closed.

The Toffees secured a season-long loan deal with an option to make the move permanent.

However, his frustrations were to continue at Goodison Park, where he only found the back of the net three times in 30 appearances and manager Ronald Koeman decided to pursue other targets.

That left Valencia free to find another club, as it looked increasingly unlikely that he would have a future under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic when he returned to the capital.
