Its been a story that has dominated the transfer window for over two weeks now, but Dimitri Payet has finally completed his move back to Marseille for £25m on a four and-a half-year deal.

Payet had not ruled out a move away from East London throughout his time with West Ham United, but after the news that his former club had entered the race to try and re-sign him, he had his heart set on going back to France.

As he was a key player for the East Londoners in their last season at Upton Park, they moved to secure the player on a new five and-a half-year deal last year.

In early January, once the player knew of the interest from his former club, he made it clear to manager Slaven Bilic that he wanted to leave, and from that point on, he was to have no further involvement with the first-team and was therefore forced to train with the Development Squad until his attitude changed.

Payet's last appearance for the Irons came in the club's 5-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City and his last goal in a West Ham shirt was one of his trademark free kicks to put them 2-1 ahead against Liverpool at Anfield back in December in a match they eventually drew 2-2.

With one day to go before the window closes, this site will as always keep its readers up to date with the latest news regarding further transfers.
