West Ham United ended 2016 with defeat to Leicester City and they will look to end the busy festive programme by starting 2017 with a positive result, as Manchester United are the visitors for Monday's late kick-off.

This fixture last season saw 112 years of history at Upton Park come to a memorable end, as both teams played their part in a thrilling game that eventually saw the home side prevail 3-2. Having secured back-to-back home wins in their last two games, they will be hoping for more of the same here.

The two teams have already met twice this season within the space of four days back in November and although José Mourinho's men knocked them out of the EFL Cup, the Hammers got the better of the two results, as they came away with a crucial point from the league meeting at Old Trafford.

The home side are up to 12th place in the table after the weekend's defeat at the King Power Stadium, whereas the Red Devils go into the game having gone 12 matches unbeaten following a late 2-1 home win over newly-promoted Middlesbrough on Saturday.

As this will be the second match in as many days, Slaven Bilic may decide to make changes to his starting line-up with the likes of Adrian, Sofiane Feghouli, Ashley Fletcher and Edimilson Fernandes all available.

Manuel Lanzini and Pedro Obiang were both back in the matchday squad for the trip to Leicester; Obiang didn't feature on Saturday, while Lanzini came off the bench against last season's Champions.

Captain Mark Noble will have to be assessed after having to be substituted in the East Midlands because of a knee injury. If he is not deemed fit enough for the game, Winston Reid will lead the team out in East London.

Monday's match kicks off at 5:15pm and live coverage is being screened by Sky Sports from 5pm. The referee is Mike Dean.
