When Manuel Lanzini signed a loan deal from Al-Jazira last summer, West Ham United saw it as a potential permanent move.

Well, the club have taken up the option to sign the impressive Argentine attacking midfielder on a four-year deal but he does have the option to extend for a further two.

In his pre-match press conference only last week, manager Slaven Bilic was asked about Lanzini's future and he confirmed that they would sign the midfield maestro in the summer.

Co-chairman David Sullivan also confirmed in an interview with Sky Sports News on 19 January, that Lanzini would be one of the club's summer signings, as the team look forward to the new era in the Olympic Stadium.

Although the deal was confirmed earlier today, he will join as a permanent member of the Hammers' squad on July 1, as his current loan deal expires at the end of the season.

Lanzini made an instant impact as he scored on his debut in the second-leg of the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round match away at FC Astra Giurgiu in August.

The midfielder has also chipped in with a number of important league goals including the opener against Liverpool at Anfield and the one that put West Ham ahead at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Lanzini is set to play against a West Ham legends XI in Mark Noble's testimonial match at Upton Park on Easter Monday.
