England Under-21 star Michael Kightly could be on his way from Wolves to West Ham if the papers and internet and that bloke I met down the pub are to be believed.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form this season, despite missing five months of the campaign (apparently with an ankle injury, though Les, the bloke mentioned above, reckons he was stolen by a clan of witches. I know what I believe).

However, Mick McCarthy, he of the Wolves, would be unwilling to let his key players leave this summer as he prepares for what could be his final charge towards the Premier League.

Figures being bandied about like corn in a combine harvester are generally arriving at around £3.5 million, though it would appear there would have to be some kind of movement from the Hammers to incorporate a new winger into the squad.

Since the call to cut the wage bill from the West Ham chairman, the rumours have persisted Freddie Ljungberg would be leaving the club, due to his large weekly wage (apparently).

It’s unlikely a swap deal would be involved…but then again it’s unlikely England will reach the semi-finals of anything ever again, so I thought I’d mention it just in case it happens and people come back and find out I WAS RIGHT.
