Following speculation that a deal for West Ham United striker Nikica Jelavic to join China League One club Beijing Renhe was close to completion, co-chairman David Gold confirmed this morning that the striker has left Upton Park for an undisclosed fee.

The Croatian international arrived in East London from Sky Bet Championship side Hull City on a one-year deal and was part of a busy deadline day as the summer transfer window came to a close. He joined Alex Song, Victor Moses and Michail Antonio in joining Slaven Bilic's side.

Despite being named in the matchday squad eight times, he only made three substitute appearances before finally making his first start for the club in the away game at Swansea City on 20 December. Jelavic only scored twice during his time with the Hammers. He netted a late winner in their Emirates FA Cup third-round tie against Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers on 9 January and followed that strike by scoring West Ham's only goal in their 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United a week later.

Everyone connected with West Ham, of course wish the 30-year-old well in the rest of his career.
