Dean Ashton has handed West Ham a real blow to their hopes of scoring millions of goals by being injured for three months.

The part-time England international has been forced to undergo surgery for his ankle injury, the very same joint that he broke on his first England call-up.

The ankle was re-injured last Monday in training... reports that he was winning in hopscotch race are yet to be confirmed.

He will have a small camera inserted into his ankle through a small joint to have a poke around and see what's what, which means he'll be out for ages and ages and ages.

"Zola will be without Ashton (for the Premier League fixture at Fulham on Saturday), who is set to be missing until the New Year as a result of his left ankle injury suffered earlier this month," said astatement on the official site.

"As announced yesterday (Thursday), the 24-year-old England international will undergo arthroscopic surgery early next week to assess the full extent of the problem.

"He will be on crutches for six weeks."

We were wondering: why not shrink someone down to the size of a bacteria, and have him pilot a very small spaceship down to his ankle to have a look?

That wouldn't need any surgery, AND then it would make a cool movie... oh wait...

You wait until I see you again Amber-Mitchell, you f**ing giraffe. I had to walk FOUR SODDING MILES.
