After collecting maximum points from the last three games, West Ham United will be looking to match the record of last February and make it four wins on the spin when they head to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

If they were to pick up a win, the Hammers would move on to 30 points and that would be a real boost going into the busy Christmas period. They will also be hopeful of repeating last season's success on Wearside as the Black Cats have not won a game since their away victory over Crystal Palace on 3 November.

The Hammers' triumph in the North-East last campaign saw them all but secure safety, as goals from former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll and the now departed Mohamed Diame, saw the Irons pick up only their tenth win of the entire season.

Sam Allardyce is only missing the services of Mark Noble as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury. Carroll will be hoping to continue his successful partnership with Diafra Sakho, as the Senegalese looks for a first start since the home game with Manchester City, while Carlton Cole and Mauro Zarate are also in contention.

In his pre-match news conference on Thursday the manager stated that, after a short loan spell at Huddersfield Town, midfielder Diego Poyet is in the squad and hopes to feature against the team managed by his father.

Saturday's match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is Phil Dowd.
