Bilic is just saying the right thing before becoming Hammers manager

Slaven Bilic will become the new West Ham manager if his recent comments are to be believed.

Bear with us on this one, but his statement of 'honouring his contract' with Croatia stinks of doing the right thing by his country's FA.

"I've always said West Ham will be my choice when I return to England.

"However, my contract with the Croatian FA expires in 2010 and I am intending to lead Croatia in this period."

But surely he would say that? For him to come out and state that he would like to leave his country before a crucial game would leave him nothing more than a national villain, and wouldn't do his chances of getting the Hammers job.

In fact, by being harder to get hold of he will raise his worth if anything.

He might have agreed a better deal to manage the national side, but the Hammers could dwarf that amount if they wanted to.

So it seems that his barbed comments about his commitment to West Ham in the future are nothing more than a disguised 'come and get me plea'.

We at Upton Sparks believe he will be manager before mark our words.
