The Hammers could be in a two-horse race to sign Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell on loan, after Real Betis admitted they had turned their attentions to other targets. Speaking to Spanish paper Marca, Beticos sporting director Vlada Stosic said “The Campbell deal has stalled a bit, we are more focused on other signings,” while the player himself told London24's sports pages that  “I’m still not sure which team I’m going to play for, I could stay in Spain or go to the Premier League.

“There is no way I can lose because they are the two most important leagues in the world.”- the young Costa Rican scored two goals in 28 games during a loan spell at Estadio Benito Villamarin as Betis finished seventh in La Liga last season, following a similar stint with Lorient in France after he was unable to obtain an English work permit following a move to the Gunners from Deportivo Saprissa in his homeland in August 2011.
