According to Vital Football's West Ham page it appears that Hammers' boss Sam Allardyce is planning to raid his former club Newcastle United for defender Danny Simpson.

Simpson, who was signed under Chris Hughton during his time in the North East, is reportedly now one of the lowest paid players at St James' Park and a January move to East London could be on for him.

With Allardyce still looking to strengthen the squad once the transfer window opens again, it remains to be seen whether a defender is top of his priority list.

 The player was linked with a move to Upton Park last January when the club was under the stewardship of Avram Grant, but a move did not materialise.
