West Ham United's search for defensive cover might soon be at an end. According to today's Daily Mail Sam Allardyce is looking at former Real Madrid player Francisco Pavon to provide a solution to the clubs crisis while Winston Reid recovers from a dislocated shoulder.

Pavon is a free agent after his release from French club Arles-Avingon and could join the man who almost brought him to Bolton Wanderers, only for a proposed move to the Reebok stadium to fall through.

Pavon is the third choice for Allardyce after loan bids for Manchester city's Nedum Onuoha and Arsenal’s Sebastien Squillaci were both knocked back earlier this week.
