Stephane Sessegnon scored his third pre-season goal for Sunderland at Rugby Park as Sunderland beat Kilmarnock 2-1. Reminders of Campbell's in form pre season last year spring to mind, and as Bruce and the boys are acutely aware injuries are not PERMITTED!

Connor Whickam scored his first goal for the club in a bright display by the highly rated youngster.

Sunderland fielded a strong side, with Gyan featuring, with the striker being unlucky not to get on the score sheet himself. Westwood was only beaten by a Gary Hay curling freekick.

Over 400 Black Cats fans made the trip north of the border to fill out a 2,300 gate, and all getting the impression that things are taking shape with a Sunderland team that genuinely looking like they have potential.

Barring the horrendous injury blighted second half to last season, the team would have finished much higher. This pre-season the team looks significantly improved in all areas.
