A report in the News of the World has suggested Gers striker Kenny Miller is close to joining Serie A giants Fiorentina.

The story, by Graeme Bryce, states the 22 goal star has "thrashed out a pre-contract deal worth £20,000 per week."

Millers agent, David Baldwin told the newspaper, "Having a club the size of Fiorentina wanting to sign you is very flattering and testament to how good Kenny has been this season.

"Rangers have their hands tied with their current financial situation and we had been talking to several clubs about a pre-contract for next season.

"Knowing that Rangers had accepted Birmingham's bid and were willing to sell Kenny now has probably changed Kenny's thought process with regards to when he leaves."

It's also states Rangers will push the Italian outfit to make a bid during the current transfer window in a bid to push through a deal for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie, whom Walter Smith is a long term admirer.

Should Kenny leave Gers in the near future it's imperative the club act quickly to sign another striker for the crucial weeks ahead.
