Any chance of locking down Scumpton for a while?
Not because of any virus but just because..[:D]

Plus it will give the New Forest Ponies time to recover in therapy

Since these 'lockdowns' don't prohibit but only discourage travel to and from the affected areas, they will prove ineffective. They're merely a political fig leaf for the govt's incompetent strategy.

I agree they have been incompetent Cressers, they should never have locked down at all.

Shielding the vulnerable is the only thing that works, the rest is just bollox to make it look like you are doing something.

It would appear a strategy of 'herd immunity' is flawed.

From the BBC world news website.

South Korea dismisses 'herd immunity' hopes

Laura Bicker

BBC News

Health officials in South Korea have concluded that the idea of a community forming herd immunity from Covid-19 is "wishful thinking".

The Deputy Director of the Korean Centre for Disease Control (KCDC), Kwon Jun-wook, said the organisation had come to that conclusion after analysing both domestic and international data.

South Korea has started antibody tests in random samples of the population to find out the true infection rate within the country. The serology tests will examine the blood of around 6,000 people to find out who has immunity to the virus. These tests will be conducted every two months and will be completed by the end of the year.

So far, in random blood tests of over 1,500 people, officials found that 0.1% of the samples had anti-bodies for Covid-19.

This would suggest that nearly 50,000 people have had coronavirus in South Korea when only 12,800 have so far tested positive for the disease.

The KCDC has emphasised that these are only initial findings and not conclusive at this stage.

This Leicester lockdown has the feel of an exercise - a trial run just to see what happens if it were actually needed.

Best place to trial that would be the Isle of Wight. Manning the gun turrets along the mainline coast you cold turn it into our very own 'Alcatraz'.

The fact movement controls aren't being enforced implies the govt isn't confident it has the police and army resources to do so. This was probably the reason they backed away from cordoning London in March.

Jimbo, the best place is actually Portsea Island. More urban, easy to roadblock access. Passport to Pimlico comes to Pompey.

Who said anything about herd immunity Cressers?

If you shield the vulnerable, then immunity becomes irrelevant.

The vast majority are not at risk of dying from COVID.

Not as convinced with Portsea Island, if I time it right I think I could bog snorkel myself to freedom.

In the top 100 areas at risk of renewed lock down Pompey and IOW both were in the top 20 according to the beed website.

On the basis of what sort of figures are they saying that, Muschi?

I've often wondered how I'd get off a blockaded Portsea Island. There are some pipes crossing the Hilsea Lines that are worth a go.

Portsea Island was cordoned in the late 1980s mini series Rules Of Engagement.
