This could open up the top if like a draw.

Let's hope the players haven't given up as easily as you have.

This is League One, none of the teams are 'very good' and we are as good as any of them as proved by how close together the top 7 or 8 are. With 36 points to play for any of the top group could easily get one of the automatic slots. We'd all be pleased with the playoffs after the start we had, but we'd be more pleased with top two, which is still within our grasp.

Cowes once again with his 'we haven't done it so far so it's impoosible to do it in the future' logic. Did you learn nothing from taking that attitude in the Cook championship season ?

Kent does have a point though
The four promotion chasing teams we have played away we lost them all
Sunderland Fleetwood Wycombe and Coventry.... hll we havent even scored an away goal in any of those games let alone picked up points.
We are play off bound IMO

Key thing in those tricky away games is not to lose to them. Having said that, can Ipswich be still considered a rival? And Peterboro couldn't beat Burton yesterday. So what have we got to fear?

I take your point Gooders, away results need to improve to even consider making automatic places. Minor correction though, we did score at Sunderland.

If we donít go up this season it will be due to our awful away record we need to find that winning mentality away from home easily said then done but thatís Jackets job

Coventry sit back and hoof it upto Godden on the counter endlessly. Sunderland play it backwards then eventually hoof it upto Wyke et al. Both very poor sides and it says a lot about this dire division.

Coventry might be top right now but I can see them along with others losing more games.

The good news is we can put daylight between us 4th spot from here in.

Coventry 1-0 Sunderland
So weíre now 5 points behind the leaders, Coventry, who I think have gone 17 matches unbeaten.
So our target for automatic promotion is Rotherham who are 3 points ahead, having played one game more.
Stopping Rotherham winning against us next month is crucial.

Anyone at far down to Fleetwood can make the top 2. Shame Sunderland couldnít snag a point today.

Ipswich have the chance to do us a couple of favours if they can pull their finger out.

Blueview ... how many points were we behind Doncaster at this stage in the Lge 2 Championship season ? Without looking it up it was about 10-12 from memory.

5 points with 11 games to go is nothing. Doable in 2 games, let alone 11.

The main point for me is that auto-promotion is now entirely in our own hands, for the first time this season. The question is are we good enough to do what is needed. The answer is very very clear: MAYBE [;)]

Donny proper bottled it that year, 4 games left they were 10 points ahead of us with a better gd

Coventry well in pole position for the champions position but Rotherham may be paying for not strengthening in Jan.
We lost out to Coventry away but we really need to capitalise on Rotherham continuing their wobble, if you can call it that.

Agree that overall last season's away form was far better than this season whereas our home form has driven our push for promotion.

However, our away record against the top teams last season wasn't great either - lost at Luton and Charlton, drew at Barnsley and Sunderland. Off the top of my head recall Luton and Barnsley were unbeaten at home while Sunderland had just the 5-4 defeat at home to Coventry.

Similarly this season, Sunderland, Coventry and Fleetwood have all lost just a single home game so narrow defeats against all three is not exactly a shock.

Having said that, a win at Peterborough would really set us up nicely for this season's run in!

Sunderland (slightly off topic)

Are the Mackems the most hated team and fans in this divison?

They all believe they are too big for this league, everyone else is tin pot.
Their fanbase has the largest sense of entitlement known to man, to a man they all believe that they are gracing us with their presence for the time being and that they will quite quickly regain their rightful place in the premiership.

Their manager is a c*nt, no wait they've won a few games he's a hero, no wait he's a c*nt again. Fickle much?

Every away fan that goes to the SOL are animals, tramps etc, "hoying" flares into the crowd (but didn't they try to launch a red flare into the North lower a few weeks ago?!), manufacturing troubling situations with other fans so that they can say they "waded in and the other fans dispersed quickly" giving a self styled hard man image.

Making out they are a massive club steeped in history with an enviable history, but my recollection of Sunderland is that they haven't won a single thing in my lifetime (from 1974 onward), this is only my recollection though so may well be wrong.

Every away team is there just because it's our cup final but the team they put out on the pitch is only a slightly better than average League 1 side, not a very exciting cup final then is it?

They admittedly have a fantastic stadium, albeit I'm told there are sections that are closed off to fans and they do have those stunning Academy facilities but any talent that comes through is nicely cherry picked away for a pitiful fee to a bigger club and the owner will sell any prospect for a measly few grand to line his pockets at the first chance.

The truth is they have been woefully mismanaged (particularly at Chairman level) for a good few years now and they are paying the price, at least have the good grace to accept your fate with grace, like we had to, falling through the divisions like a proverbial stone but we still turned up singing every week expecting to see a loss, putting our change in the buckets just to keep the PFC name going.

Implying that we are trying to manufacture a rivalry, but the truth was last year we played them something like 5 times and the last two games were very important (Wembley and the play offs) so there was a divisional rivalry of sorts but I'm told there are often numerous threads on their board for Pompey and Coventry yet everyone else is obsessed (yes, I get the irony that posting this will no doubt have me labelled as obsessed by them!), but let it be said our only true rivals are the scum, end of.

Personally, I put the Sunderland fans on a par with the Liverpool fans for sense of entitlement, and God forbid they should go up anytime soon as the few that I know will be unbearable.

It's a shame as Sunderland used to be seen as a good club with good fans but they are fast becoming an annoyance across the league with a XXXXXX team and huge fanbase, albeit they are MOSTLY all planks.

Edited because there are always some good fans, but in this case they are very much let down by the majority.

There's a decent lad from the mackems who posts on here and the few I've met at games have been fine. Popped over to their forum a few times and wondered why any fan from another team would bother posting on there it's full of abusive retards feeling sorry for themselves. [^]

We have one sits right behind us in the North Upper, he used to be alright, but he's slowly turned into more of a plank each week since Christmas.

I know I'm generalising and the same can't be said for all fans of any club
