Bass 6. To me a keeper should not get beaten in the middle of goal by a shot he sees from the boot that far out.
Not sure who should have been closing down that shot either, cos that would put them down to a 5 for me, whoever they are.

Curtis and Burgess our best two other than that. Cannon impressive too.

Having a celebratory beer, BT.

Didn't see the match but just wanted to spark discussion.

Was going to give Raggett a ten but thought that was pushing it. 😀

8 for williams is pushing it too, I actually quite like him for his work rate. but his final ball and speed of touch lets him down

Watched the game on Bet365 Gordon Banks would have struggled with their first goal so cannot critise Bass apart from not being 8 ft tall !!

i only question that as i was right in line in the fratton end, and it was a very good strike but he was not far away and it was in the middle of the goal. ?Did he start going the wrong way, I've not seen a replay as yet. To make up for it, his save just before their second goal was top class

Hammie. Few of us in Drayton end had great view. We just over halfway up and in direct line the ball swerved viscously from left to right. Any replay will show bass move to his right covering shot only for it to move in different direction

Not many goalies in the world would have saved Barnsley's first goal. I'm Bass's biggest critic and think he couldn't catch a cold let alone a football. However, there's no blaming him for that one.

Watched game from the back of the Fratton End with two grandsons-first time in FE but we have sat in other parts of the old girl. Thoroughly entertaining game, boys liked the atmosphere.

Bass 7 kicking, at times, suspect. Had no chance with the first goal: a worldie, it swerved all over the place.
Bolton 6
Burgess 9 the guy is immense
Raggett 7- looked better today
Seddon 8- great left peg and speed
Naylor 9-great appetite, needs to work on passing-reminded me of Michael Doyle today
Close 9- looked confident and supported well
Williams 9- added zest and completely destroyed his markers.
Cannon 10- everywhere, really enjoyed his performance
Curtis 9- Loves playing for Pompey and gives us aggression and is on fire at moment
Marquis 8- never gave up, supported his fellow players, and is starting to be lethal in Milton End goal area
Ball boy, Fratton End, South Stand side, wound up the Barnsley goalie a treat- goalie took the bait too!

Marquis and lethal are you on drugs????. Three of his goals were going in anyway. He's a poacher (and not very effective one) thats about it. He tackles ar$e first and can't win a ball in the air and hasn't scored for us from outside the 6 yd box. Yeah you're right lethal [cr][cr][cr]

Staunch, why criticise Bass? What has he done wrong since he came in? He certainly catches the ball excellently and has made several very good saves. Their first goal swerved all over the place and he made an incredible save just before their second. Great to have competition for that position. Don't think we've lost yet with him in goal.

Have people not realised that the marquis goals are obviously a tactic we are using? They've obviously been working on a deep corner to the centre backs for them to head back across in the knowledge that's exactly where marquis will be. It may only be a tap in but his movement to lose a defender is allowing his tap ins, he doesn't stand there waiting for the ball to come to home!

As for Williams, I must watch a different game to people every week. I do not know what he offers this team, I thought he put in one good cross yesterday and that was about it. But hey ho, we won and I'm not going to start complaining about that [:D]

Anybody who could mark Bass higher than Burgess obviously wasnít there 😎.

I quite like Bass but he is prone to the odd error and needs to tighten up his game. I was right behind that shot he let in. Granted it moved around a bit, but it was not far off the centre of the goal and he was nowhere near it. He was obviously not concentrating and was caught out.

He was obviously not at fault for the second one.

You canít blame the keeper for that. The shot should of been closed down way before he even shaped to shoot. Not sure who was supposed to be closing him down but whoever it was looked like a schoolboy turning his back from the ball.

Close could and should have closed him down better, but bottom line is that any keeper should stop a shot from that distance that goes in the middle of the goal rather than the corners. Yes, it swerved but Bass was slow to react and did not move quickly enough to give himself a chance of saving it. He was caught by surprise and will learn from it.

Just seen the tweet of Curtis not allowing Marquis to celebrate his (curtis) goal.
Must have been peed off that Marquis nicked his earlier goal.
No love lost there then.
