Explaining why he left us.

>‘I didn't want to leave in terms of leaving the club, leave my home. It's not something that I wanted, but I sort of put my career first.

‘It just wasn't the right manager at the right time for me I guess. <

That last line, surely the most unsurprising statement so far of this& last season.

Jackett the manager who doesn't know how to play strikers. Chaplin,Pitman,Marquis,Bogle,Vaughan,Hawkins etcetcetc, surely they can't all be bad strikers /forwards. [|)[:(!]

Chaplin is very good but at that stage of his career was still developing and couldn’t play the loan striker role. £500k was good money at the time. Would love to see him back one day.

Bogle wasn’t very good. He thought he was Messi but missed a pen that would have arguably got us promoted. No-bit bottlejob.

Pitman is very good but can’t look after his own fitness.

Marquis, still bedding in but I think he’s on 9 for the season so far? Proven striker.

Vaughn, didn’t play enough to really be judged. Think he had one good 20 min spell and the rest of the time wasn’t very good.

Hawkins, good striker. Still young and learning. Needs more confidence. Harrison is a slightly stronger more experienced player than Olly. Olly could still develop into a better player than Harrison.

Hawkins is two years older than Harrison so I'd say Harrison has the more scope for improvement. At 27 Hawkins is unlikely to develop much more, although he is relatively new to league football.

Problem is mainly down to our ultra defensive 4-2-3-1 system so Chaplin didn't fit.

But if we'd played 2 up top with a target man he would have scored a hat full I'm pretty sure.

Bound to score against us tomorrow but hoping for a 2-1 Pompey win.

My point exactly Mikey. I'm not on about whether they where young, old or whatever,my point was that none of our strikers over the last 2 seasons have played to their potential at the time. So is it the manager, the system/tactics or we just sign poor players. My bet is on the manager and tactics.

Paul Cook hardly used him either

Again it was a 4231 and not using a system that got the best out of players

Yes, Paul Cook’s style of football wasn’t a bundle of fun either was it?

The first criteria when deciding who to appoint next time should be ‘attacking mentality’,

Oh what a breath of fresh air that would be. 😁

Didn’t we score the highest amount of goals in the whole football league under Cook in his second season?

So someone was attacking somewhere then.

Apologies, I seem to have made that fact up. Wasn’t there some great scoring stat under Cook that I’m getting confused with?!
